MYST Q2 #2: 22 Jump Street

22 Jump Street
I was sitting on my couch after work with nothing to do, when I stopped on the movie 22 Jump Street. Since I liked the movie 21 Jump Street I thought this one would be good to but it was not all that. I do not like sequels but I thought I might as well give it a try.
After watching the movie I did not like it as much yes there was parts of the movie that were funny because Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were funny. They brought lots of great parts to the movie they were perfect for the part. I would say that this movie is probably a teen movie due to them being in collage with young people.
I was disappointed that the movie was just like the 21 Jump Street, It was not as interesting after i figured out that the movies are similar. They did the same thing go to a school undercover find out who the bad guys are Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill got into a fight and were not friends but when it came to bust the criminals they were friends again. Same plot only different drugs and people.  The thing i liked was the stunts they pulled the effects were not to bad but they were also similar to 21 Jump Street.
The movie is worth seeing if you like to compare the movies and its worth seeing if you come across it when you have nothing better to do. But it is not worth going out your way to watch it.

MYST Q2 #1: Gone Girl

Gone Girl

A movie based on the book, even though the movie is not a true story it is based on a real- life case with similar themes. Directed by David Fincher, I think this movie did a good job of using lights to make scenes more dramatic and the effects to show show people felt. The movie also did a good job in making us believe that Nick Dunne played by Ben Affleck really killed his wife. The harsh investigation from the police really put pressure on Nick Dunne and we saw him act different through the movie. During a plot twist everything changes and you have to figure out the truth just like Nick Dunne does. A great thriller for anyone to watch. I think this is a must see.
I think the big cinematic element that made this movie stand out was lighting, During the scenes Amy Dunne played by Rosamund Pike was in the lighting was up lifting, bright, this is the women that is missing. During the times we see Nick Dunne its a dark tone, The colors they use are grays and blacks and shadows over different things. When we see Amy's diary all we see is what she wrote so you have the white paper and the words that stand out. Its very focused on small details, and once you realize them then you start to pay attention to all of them.

I recommend this movie to anyone who likes putting little details together. This movie isn't just for girls but I also think guys would enjoy it also.I saw this in the movies but I thinking watching it at home would make it that much more better. This movie is one of my favorite movies I have seen this year.

Formal Film Studies: Sofia Coppola

I had a few friends tell me to watch The Bling Ring a non famous movie by Sofia Coppola. Watching this movie made me wonder what other movies she made. I chose to watch The Bling Ring, Maria Antoinette, and The Virgin Suicides. I wanted to see how she pa-trades women in her films when shes also a women.
The Bling Ring is about spoiled teens who live in Hollywood, and get into trouble by robbing celebrity homes. When caught on camera they have to try and be loyal friends and figure out how not to get caught. Thought the movie the girls seems heartless and kinda emotionless, to make the movie unpredictable I feel like Sofia Coppola picked people who could play off the spoil rich girls. In are culture girls have lots of emotions, and she flipped it. I think Sofia Coppola wanted to switch how all women are seen as and wants her viewers learn not all women are sweet girls. This movie is great for people who like teen movies with a twist, Sofia Coppola did a great job by showing women roles are more then what people usually think.

Maria Antonieta is about a young girl who will become a queen of France, and shes not a typical proper lady shes a little more out their and is a flirt when she goes to balls and when shes around men. She's a "wild child". This movie has a big role in how women are seen, People expect her to be a good girl but changes it around because she wants to be herself. This shows women can have there own identity and we do not have to be how society thinks we should be. Since the movie is suppose to be back in time and women had more of an expectation of proper, Sofia Coppola took it and made it more modern and makes me feel that women always have a say and should be how they want not how we are expected to be.
The Virgin Suicides is about girls who have strict parents but disobey them, by talking to the boy across the street. I feel like this movie shows that girls are not sweet, we also have are own say, and will do things to prove that we are out there. Girls are trying to make an identity for themselves. Once again I think Sofia Coppola wants people to see that females are also a little crazy and a lot of us try to break the old way. Theses girls had everything they needed but they had to prove themselves more then they should have.

I feel like in all three movies women where these ladies who wanted to break out there shells but not in a good way so they misbehaved. I feel like females now have put themselves out there to makes themselves look like all they want is sex or to be sexy to society. I do agree that we should have are own voice but many have took it to face and I feel like Sofia Coppola has shown that throughout all three movies. What happen to getting attention is a positive way?

Sofia Coppola is a women who noticed that teenage girls are not the same women there once was, yes we need to have an open mind but we are not sexual objects and by makes these films females can realize how ridiculous females make themselves look. From theses movies I look a learning lesson and see that we do not need to be sexual objects.

Create a movie

The Talent Show

The movie we chose to do was animation, due to the fact that is was different, and not many animation movies were out. The basic plot of the movie is Mickey Mouse and his friends need fruit and the fruit tree that they always get them from was no longer there. They saw a poster for a talent show and the prize was a big basket of fruit. So the friends joined the show, and sang and danced. They won the prize at the end and had lots of fruit for there tree house. This movie was in entertain their was no real big message behind it. We thought the kids would also need something to view during the Great Depression and many studios only made movies for adults. We thought Walt Disney would do a good job because he makes other cartoons, so we went to someone who was interested in the same topic. The cast we chose was Mickey Mouse played by Walt Disney, Minnie Mouse played by Marcellite Garner, Pluto, Donald Duck played by Clarence Nash. Since Walt Disney played Mickey Mouse we thought it would be a good idea to use these characters. They also fit because the story line was so basic there characters are well known and the kids would love to see them on another adventure. Hays code did not affect are movie. If their was something different I could have done it would have to be get more characters in the movie and have them do like a dance party at the end to make the kids feel like its okay to be involved in big things even though the real would is rough around them it might even get them up and dancing. I just feel it import to say positive sometimes even though things around you seem to be falling apart.

MYST #1 No Good Deed

No Good Deed, is a movie that came out in 2014, I personally really enjoyed the action and suspense of the movie. The movie stars Idris Elba who plays a man who escaped from prison and has a mental illness, and has a thing for killing women. He kills his ex-girlfriend because she did not wait for him. He crashes his car and stops at a women's house for help only to find out shes home alone with her kids. Taraji Henson plays the victim a women who feels abandon by her husband so when a man comes to her door she feels "sexy" because he looks at her, how she wishes her husband would look at her. The ending was the only part that I was disappointed about, im not spoiling it but I think it could have been more creative.
The cinematic elements I was in this movie that stood out to me was the over all look was pretty good it left realistic, it was natural. The characters emotions felt real they did not look staged even though they were. There was not much lighting a lot of the movie was kinda dark but that fit the mood of the movie. It was not over done it had parts were there was light because the mood of the movie was easy and happy. The characters seemed like they did not need much editing they were in character very well and their mood played well through the whole movie.
The scene that stood out to me the most was when Idris Elba gets to meet Taraji Hensons bestfriend played by Kate Castillo. Kate comes over to have a girls night with Taraji but meets Idris while sitting drinking wine she flirts with him, and when Taraji leaves them alone she starts wondering how they really know each other and with the pressure Idris feels he asks to get up and smoke, she gets up and follows him and Idris tells Kate that Taraji and him are having an affair, Kate knows something is not right and calls him out. but he get very upset and kills Kate. This scene is important because this is when you start to see Idris become crazy over the situation and you know things will turn for the worst. I do not want to give to much away because i feel like you have to watcch the movie to get the full experience.
